On December 17, 2023, His Majesty the King announced Gelephu Mindfulness City, the world’s first global model of regenerative, values-based urban development. This revolutionary project blends Bhutan’s ancient wisdom with modern innovation, creating an economic hub grounded in Gross National Happiness principles.

Location & Scale

Located in southern Bhutan near the Indian border, GMC spans 2,500 square kilometers three times the size of Singapore. The site features 35 rivers and streams flowing from the Himalayas, nestled between protected wildlife reserves. Strategic location creating a new gateway connecting South and Southeast Asia.
