Trek Overview

The Soe Yaksa trek is a spectacular high-altitude journey through pristine wilderness, offering stunning views of the Himalayan peaks and an immersive experience in Bhutan’s remote eastern regions. This moderate to challenging trek takes you through beautiful forests, alpine meadows, and traditional villages.

Detailed Itinerary

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our representative. Transfer to your hotel and rest. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum of Bhutan (Ta Dzong) and Paro Rinpung Dzong. Evening stroll through Paro town. Overnight in Paro.

Today is dedicated to acclimatization. Hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched dramatically on a cliff 900m above the valley floor. The hike takes approximately 5-6 hours round trip. This is excellent preparation for the trek ahead. Overnight in Paro.

After breakfast, drive to Thimphu (1.5 hours). Brief sightseeing in Thimphu including Buddha Dordenma statue and Memorial Chorten. Continue driving towards the trek starting point. Overnight at base camp or nearby lodge.

Begin your trek through blue pine and rhododendron forests. The trail gradually ascends with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Reach Jangothang, offering spectacular views of Mount Jumolhari (7,314m). Trek duration: 5-6 hours. Overnight in camp.

Trek through alpine meadows and yak pastures. The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic with rocky terrain and pristine streams. Cross several high ridges with panoramic mountain views. Trek duration: 6-7 hours. Overnight in camp.

Rest day for acclimatization and exploration. Optional day hikes to nearby viewpoints or simply relax at camp enjoying the magnificent mountain scenery. This is an excellent opportunity for photography and wildlife spotting. Overnight in camp.

Continue trekking through high-altitude terrain. Cross the Bonte La pass (4,890m) with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Himalayas. Descend to Thombu Shong through rocky landscapes. Trek duration: 7-8 hours. Overnight in camp.

Descend through juniper forests and alpine meadows. The trail follows mountain streams with opportunities to spot blue sheep and other wildlife. Reach Sharna Zampa by late afternoon. Trek duration: 6-7 hours. Overnight in camp.

Trek through varied terrain including forests and open valleys. The path gradually ascends offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks. Pass by traditional yak herder camps. Trek duration: 5-6 hours. Overnight in camp.

TREK ENDS Final day of trekking through beautiful high-altitude landscape. Gradually descend to Limithang where vehicles will be waiting. Drive to Thimphu (approximately 3-4 hours). Check into hotel and enjoy a well-deserved hot shower. Celebration dinner. Overnight in Thimphu.

Morning sightseeing in Thimphu including Tashichho Dzong, Traditional Medicine Institute, and local handicraft markets. Afternoon drive back to Paro. Evening at leisure to explore Paro town or relax. Overnight in Paro.

Transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight. Our representative will assist with departure formalities and bid you farewell.
